Project TACT
In the context of the Canal Plan, nine pilot projects have been identified in the Port of Brussels area in order to give a concrete and exemplary answer to the regional challenges of a new mix between the economic activity and the other functions, such as housing, facilities, and recreational places.
The development of the TIR Logistics Centre and its adjacent area represents a pilot project of the Canal Plan in which various corporate projects are involved. The land next to the TIR Centre (TACT) will be the subject of a space redevelopment project dedicated to urban companies. Six plots of land will be thus offered for rent.
Concretely, the concessionary candidates in this area will agree to develop their projects in collaboration with the “Canal Plan” Steering Committee, whose members include in particular: the Cabinet of the Minister President, the Port of Brussels, the Urban Development Company, the Master-Architect and Brussels Urban Development. On the basis of the Steering Committee’s guidelines, the tenants will undertake to integrate the ambitions of the “Canal Plan” into their projects; in particular:
- By optimizing the concentration of the economic activities on its site (in order to integrate the activities in their urban and architectural context);
- By encouraging the activities, the multi-functionality, the density and the development of the landscape and heritage related elements.
