Locks and Bridges
The Port of Brussels is the manager of six engineering structures, two locks and four bridges, including two lift bridges. For this purpose, it pays very particular care to the operational control thereof and a regular and meticulous monitoring is carried out by its operational staff. In addition to the visual monitoring carried out in boat by the staff of the Harbourmaster’s office, the bridge operators and the lockkeepers who operate the structures are all part of the operational services. They are available 7 days a week and are in charge of the management of the access to the seaport and the monitoring of the locks and the water level.
